That time of year....

Here it is 2 days before xmas. Suppose to get snow and Ice. Typical Midwestern weather. I wish we had a fireplace to warm to....but the tv will have to do. My kids are on the east coast and still digging their way out. They got 24" of the white stuff. I miss them all.

I made cookies for every one for Christmas and I must say they turned out quite good. Made candy too. It was fun.

Wish every one the best this time of year......

I've joined this swap ..... I've always wanted a signature quilt......Now to start making the 70 or so.....It will be neat to see allt he names. Since am into genealogy bad....this will be neat.....May be a distant cousin or two.....I love civil war material so much......

I remember my great granny haveing a civil war quilt. She would always show it to me and say one day this will be yours......but there was a fire in 73 and it was destroyed. But I remember the colors of mustard and reds and browns. but I can't rember the pattern......

Another thought.....

Suzanne at Farmers wife....(don't know how to add links) brought the big Chill back.......AT 60 and remembering all the things you have done.....and haven't done.....depressing.....but some fond memories. Only wishing I'd been smarter about my life. But I have my great kids and a hubby too......so I guess it was meant to be......

I am working on a quilt for my nephew and his new bride to be. It seems I can't get going on it. I've made 30 squares and only 60 more to go.....One of the reasons is We have had such beautiful weather for July. I can sit out side and read and watch the birds. Who wants to sew in the basement......hahah...

This is where I sit and read and watch the birds. That is my buddy Nesbitt, Westie, who loves to be outside and play soccer.....I sometimes put up the canopy on the swing......These last few days have been heaven on earth here in Ole Jeff City, MO......

I am working 10 hours days this summer so I can have Monday's off. I love it...but 5:30 am sure comes early.....

Glass Castle........have any of you read this book? What a great book. It is about a very disfunctional family and how they lived and the kids learned more about life than any school could teach them. Having two disfuntional parents had to be so hard on the kids. It is a great read , so try and get it to read. Can't remember the authors name right now. But there are vedio out on the inter net with her talking about her book and about her mother. If I knew how to add links I'd sure add hers.

I've got three books going now. Janet Evonevich, The garden angel by Mindy Friddle, and the Glass Castle......I just can't get enought to read.....then of course whatch my Ghost hunter and Vampire "True Blood".

I could go on and on.....but best I stop.......

I can't believe it....

This is my artistic daughter Donya. She is an art teacher out east. We are so proud of her, she did it all her self. She is now raising the two girls by her self. She has done so many accomplishes now. She is a good person over all......

My son Trent who lives on the east coast. I can't believe he is 34 now. He entertains us all. He loves his music and tatoos. He is such a great person.....

I don't have any pics of my other Grand kids or their mother Sonya. They live in Mo and all doing fine.

I've been busy working and Gardening. I made my own upside down tomatoe plant....and it is doing great. We made a cement garden this year and it is doing fantastic.....took cement block with the two pic holes and planted in them. We've had tomatoes already and Cukes and zuc.....

Our Beans are just now blooming.....and sweet peas too. All in containers.....

I've have to try and be better at this.........

I can't believe I haven't post for almost a year. Time goes fast .......

I've been going to my quilt clubs and reading other blogs. And wishing I was as devoted

as the other gals out there.

I sitll don't have the hang of puting pics up or links. I've made alot of good friends.

I am missing all my grandkids. And kids. But we talk alot and I see on their pages

pics. But it isn't the same.

Am so bad.

This is my attempt of an upside down tomatoe. So we will see what happens. Cheaper than 19.95. Will keep updated.

I got my quilt block for Jane and they are fabulous. Thanks again Jane for all you did.....it was fun.....

I can't believe how long it has been since I added things. I've been busy with my quilting groups and getting behind. Why do I do that to myself.

The weather has been so great all I want to do is swing and read and watch the birds.

We are container gardening for a change. Things are going great.

How old is your sewing machine?

I was just wondering how old is the machine you all sew on? I have an Elna SU , I got it the xmas of 76 and have been using it ever sense. It was $700.00 and I thought my husband would bust a gut.....The kids clothes, wedding dresses, prom dresses, baby clothes, quilts, and too many to mention. I wish I'd logged every thing I did sew on it. O, even a cover of my son pickuptruck. 33 years on this one and it is going great Knock on Wood( my head). I took it apart a while back to see if it needed dusted or what inside. It was clean as a whistle. So I guess am doing something right with it...haha.

The thought of buying a new one scares the ---- out of me. All plastic and such.....I want a good solid metal one. Mine has a few whistles on it and it works just fine.

How about any one else.....Are you true to your machine??????

Should have stayed in BED

Boy this Monday is the pitts......I wanted to get so much done this weekend and didn't do anything on my list. Did clean the spare bedroom and it looks nice.....but am wore out. I use to be able to do all this in 4 hrs and now it takes me 8 hrs. What a bite.......

So Sunday was a lazy day. Doing nothing.......and it makes me so mad that I do this. I've got all these ideas and too lazy to do it.....I've got to change.......

That was my week end , I hope you all did better than me.....

Surfing

Do any of you other gals surf for quilt patterns. I tell you it is better than buying a magazine. There are so many neat ideas out there. I've filled up two note books full......and of course i want to try them all......

I joined the Thimbleberries group here in town and love it. The colors are great. I chose the Bright Quilt.....it is just fun to get with the gals....... Then I joined the once a month at Specilty Quilt shop here in town. Linda is so much fun and all the gals that work there. An I joined the Missouri River Quilters Guild here also. So three times a month I am seeing and talking quilts. Can't get enough.....

Linda was so kind to save for me her cardboard from frabric and now I can really see how much fabric I really have....too much as husband says., but it always seems not the right amount or color. So I have to go and get some more....

I love the shop in Mexico, Missouri too.....really neat and Stover.....neat They are have a quilt show at Stover and I can't wait to go to that......Got to save for that one....hahah.....
